 Life's good.

The airbender girl looked in to her mentor's eyes. She trusted her with all her heart, but at this moment she doubted her severly. Adra knew it was the right thing to do but, was it safe? The only way to find out was to do it. So she did. Adra swung her arms around and threw out her staff anf jumped on. She glided over the canyon with great ease. Adra glanced back and saw her mentor she so ever faithfully trusted and loved, but something was different about the way she looked at her. Adra stares at her destination doubtfully. She barley made it since her glider was beginning to get alittle small for her. As she landed something caught her eye. She stopped as fast as she could but tripped and her staff dropped near a dark forest. Adra knew this place. All though it was a faint memory, it would haunt forever. Adra crawled over cautiously looking up at the tall trees that were shaped as monsters in her eyes. She quickly snatched her staff and ran to the edge of the canyon wall. She looked to the otherside and expecting to see her mentor. Adra looked and saw no one. She was deeply disturbed and wondered if her mentor would remember her, but if she did forget about her, Adra knew she would keep her memories with her mentor in her heart. Adra turned towards the dark forest again. She glanced at the trees again and looked away. These were the trees that had killed her best friend. Even though her best friend had been older, she still loved her best friend. On this same day about 5 years ago, Adra was at the same canyon with her best friend waiting for her to be let go into an Earth Kingdom town for a week. Every girl in her monistary did this during their 14th year in life and everyone survived, but one girl had trouble starting off her week of freedom. Adra remembered clearly what happened. When she was 9 years old standing on the egde of the canyon wall staring at her friend's destination, she was happy for her and she knew she would come back and tell her stories of her journey. Her friend's name was Moki and they were tighter than bark on a tree. Adra gave Miko one last huge hug and watched her glide off to the other side of the canyon. Adra watched in amazment of her graceful gliding, but then got worried. Miko was flying too high. She would get caught in the forest's trees. Even though Adra screamed and waved for Miko to land, Miko just looked back and smiled assuming it was her just waving goodbye. Adra stopped. Miko had crashed into the trees. Adra ran as fast as she could back to the monistary to get help, but they were to late. Some of the other airbender mentors flew over and brought her body back to the otherside and the healers tried all they could. It was no hope, but Adra knew that death was just a transition into another place where everyone's loved ones would wait for them to join them. Even though she knew this Adra would live her years without her best friend. It was the end of Miko.

Adra looked of at the sky and sighed. Tears came to her eyes but she held them back. She was happy she made it across, but still sad of the memories of that day. Adra turned around and this time started to make her way down the trail that took her to the Earth Kingdom town where she could go freely and do whatever she pleased, but she could not go further than that. She became excited and started to walk fast. Adra entered the town joyfully greating everyone and they greated her too. She knew that she must first go to the palace and bring the King and Queen a gift so that she may have a hut to stay in for the week. Everyone watched her as she strolled along the streets towards the palace. Adra bowed to the gaurds and politely asked to go inside to bring the King and Queen their gift. The earthbenders escorted her inside. Adra tried to atleast take a glance atleast half of what there was in the Palace. So many treasures and luxuries. It was impossible to enjoy them all in one lifetime! The gold ceiling reflected each and every source of light. The walls were made of the rare stones found under the ice near the watertribes. Adra thought of how they possibly built all of this. It must have taken centuries! Stealing glances like crazy she finally stopped and looked forward at the King and Queen of the town. The Queen was extrordinarily....ugly, but the King made up for her. Even though the Queen was not the best sight she'd seen, the King was someone she would like to see a lot. He had oddly colored hair. It was a golden color. She had never seen that in her life. His skin was tan and even though an elegant fur robe was covering him, she could tell he was very much in-shape. Overwhelmed by all the beauty of the palace and the King she had almost forgot her gifts. Adra bowed and said "its an honor to be in your presence, your highness." The King replied, "Welcome to my home, what have you brought me to show your respect?." Adra stood content and pulled out her gift. It was a small orb made of the finest Air Nation jewels existing. It was a yellow/orange color that brought a joyus look into the King's eyes. He stood up himself to retrieve the small gift. Adra bowed and looked up at the King as she held out her gift. The King smiled in delight and said "Thank you kindly for what you have brought me, so now you may have your place to stay for the week." He handed her 5 gold pieces. "Spend these wisely young one, for this is all you will have to survive the week" he said. Adra stared at the amount of money. This amount was more than she had ever seen in her life. She carefully tucked away the money in her pocket and bowed once again. The King tossed one of the guards a key. "Show her to her room" he said as he looked over the yellow and orange orb.

The gaurd started out of the palace and Adra tried to have one look at all the magic in this place. Everything was so beautiful and looked so fragile she was almost afraid to breath thinking her breathe might break something. She followed the gaurd ad took one last look at the King. He was a sight for sore eyes. Adra tried to keep her mind off of the palace and the King and tried to plan her week. The gaurds stopped at a hut almost right next to the palace gate. He handed her the key and bowed, then took off back through the palace gates. Adra stepped inside her hut and looked around. It was definetly bigger than her room. Her room at the monistary consisted of a small matress in the corner next to a table with a drawer for her spare clothes. Her room didn't even have a pillow or blanket. This hut was almost 3 times the size of her room and the bed even had 3 pillows and 2 blankets. There was an extrordinary carved dining table in the other corner of the hut and another small room in the other corner. She checked inside the small room and gasped. She wanted to stay forever. The small room had a tub! It was so private where she could bathe and revive herself. Adra put her staff down on the bed and put her small pack on the table. She ran outside to get some water for the tub. She hauled inside the bucket of water and dumped it into the tub. She took the longest bath she had ever had for about 10 minutes. At the monistary you were only allowed to stay 5 minutes as the limit. She was in heaven. After her bath she looked into the small cuboard in the last corner of the room. It was amazing. It contained food for one whole day. She really had never seen this much food either in her life because she usually only had breakfast and dinner. She frowned at the dried meat but, she stuffed her self with vegetables for her dinner. During her fine meal she thought of the King again. She remembered his fur robe and frowned again. How can people be so cruel and eat or wear animals?! It was outrageous, but she got over it because this was like heaven more or less. She stored what was left that she couldn't eat in the cuboard and walked over to the bed. She put her staff on the floor next to the bed and started to take off her shoes. She climbed into the warm bed and fell into a deep sleep full of dreams.

Adra woke up early. It was before dawn and the town was still asleep. Adra was to excited of what she could do and discover in this town so she set out early to explore. Putting on her shoes, tucking away the key in her pocket along with the money, and grabbing her staff, she made her bed and stepped outside. She locked the door and set out on her adventure. She admired the houses and the shops. It was amazing to see all of this. Her home was nothing like this and was almost dirt compared to what this town was. She loved her home, but this was a beautiful place she couldn't stand to leave. She imagined that she would probably be tired of the town by the end of the week, but she was wrong. Adra walked over to a lake on the otherside of town from where her hut was. She stopped and sat on its bank. Adra relaxed and was about to lay down when she heard a crack from behind a bush. She stood up ready to use her master airbending techniques. As she stood in her fighting stance a stranger stepped out from behind the bush. She became even more tense until she saw who it was. She was about to scream! Adra couldn't believe her eyes! She had to be dreaming! "No, no, no, its not possible!" she whispered. The mysterious man stepped into the early rising sunlight and stared at her smiling. Adra's mouth went wide open and wanted to run for she really believed it was only a dream. Adra started to run back towards her hut, but the person caught her by her leg and pulled her down to the ground. Adra turned onto her back and looked up to face this man. It was Kujo. She knew him because he used to visit every now and then to the girl's monistary. The mentors knew he was only looking for trouble, but Adra was caught under his spell when she first laid eyes on him. Kujo stared at her and said "Hi, didja miss me?" Adra wanted to scream but something inside her made her hold it back. She remembered he was banned and kicked out from the Air Nation entirley because he betrayed all Air Nomads entirley. Kujo acted like a nice sweet fellow in the beginning, but later we found out he was a spy for the Fire Nation. Kujo found all the Air Temple's hiding places and entrances and informed the Fire Nation of them all. Even though he was evil, Adra still liked him, but she knew if anyone found out she did, she would also be banished from the Air Nation. Kujo helped her up and she stared into his dark brown eyes and at his wind-blown hair. It was tied into small braids in the back and hung down loosley in the front. Adra's hair was in three long braids that pulled back and made one larger braid. The rest of the hair that didn't fit into the braids hung down and just blew everywhere. Jet was wearing a robe that he must have stolen from a Fire Nation town. It was black and had red dragon designs flowing all over it. The dragon embroidered on shot fire down the sleeves. As for Adra she was wearing her usual outfit which all the Air Nomad kids wore. Adra looked up again to his eyes and she pushed him away and started to sob. "Kujo, stay away from me! You know what you did and you killed most of my civilization! Go back to your home and I hope I never see you again" Adra said through her sobs. Kujo took her hand "don't cry, I never meant for you to be hurt, I only wanted to see you again" he whispered softly into her ear. Adra slapped him away. "I will never forgive you no matter what you say or do!" she exclaimed. Kujo turned and told her "I was only doing what I had to do for my people, I had to help my family survive. I had to find a way to make money. If I had known what would have become of my deeds to the Fire Nation and if I had known you, i would have never even thought of it."

Adra turned to him and stared, but she just sighed through her tears and turned to run. She left Kujo standing there in the sunrise by the lake and never looked back at him. Adra opened the door to her hut and fell onto the bed and cried. She heard knocks on her door and said "come in" as she wiped her eyes. The person who opened the door was Kujo. She couldn't believe he would follow her after what she had said. Didn't he get it that she would never forgive him. She was scared that he knew she had feelings for him. Adra tensed up again and courageously stood up again in her fighting stance. Kujo made a stopping gesture with his hands and walked in closer to her. Adra put a determined mean look on her face to tell him she would fight him if he didn't leave her alone this instant! Kujo just stared and walked slowly closer to put his hand on her shoulder. Adra looked up at him and came out of her fighting stance and she pushed his hand off. Adra stared at him fiercely through her tears that started streaming down her face again. Kujo looked so sorry and sweet, but she could never trust him again no matter how much she liked him. She sat down on her bed again and said "Kujo, what do you want from me? You betrayed my entire nation and I can never trust you again." Kujo so sweetly smiled and walked over to sit next to her. "I am so sorry. I would die for you if I could bring back all your people who the Fire Nation killed. I would die for you anyway" he said as he put his arm around her and she turned away. Kujo frowned and took his hand away and said "All I want to know is if" he took a long pause and Adra turned to him and asked "what?" He looked into her eyes and finished "All I want to know is if you love me the way I love you? The first time I saw you I knew you would be the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I couldn't love anyone anymore than you and each time I visited your monistary I fell more in love with you." Kujo sighed and continued as Adra stared at him in disbelief. "I heard your voice when you talked with your friends and was almost in a trance. I saw the way you walked and I was hypnotized. I saw you airbending and felt deeply in love with your every movement. You have the most beautiful face and personality and I want that to be with me forever." Adra was in shock and stared for a long moment. After she came back out of her shock she started telling Kujo what she felt for him too. "I love you too, but if I were seen with you I would be banished from the Air Nation and I can't risk losing that. I have lost my best friend and most of my other friends. I have never had much at all, but after coming here and seeing you, its more than I ever needed and wanted." Adra stared deeply into his eyes and Kujo stared into her's. Kujo turned Adra to face him and he asked her "do you want me to leave you alone forever because I can if that is what you need from me." Adra looked down and sighed "no, I would like to have you in my life forever, but I can't be banished from my nation." He leaned closer to her and asked "I will leave you and maybe our paths will cross again, but if we never do meet again I would just like to ask from you atleast a hug." Adra smiled up at him and accepted.

Kujo and Adra stood up and Adra run into his arms giving him a small hug. Kujo gladly hugged back. Kujo bowed to her as he started to walk out the door leaving Adra with a depressed look on her face, but Kujo never looked back to see and walked out the door. Adra stood in the middle of the room and something inside her just pushed her out the door. Kujo turned around and ran back to her. "Is something wrong?" he asked worried. Adra just flung her arms around him and gave him a small kiss on the lips. Kujo's eyes went wide and then closed, but Adra pulled away. Kujo opened his eyes and looked at her and leaned in for one more kiss. Adra pushed him away once again and walked back into her hut. Kujo walked off to his home in the forest that took her best friend's life. Adra sat inside her hut crying because now she has lost so many things when she never had much. She had lost her best friend and now the only guy who really loved her and she loved back. She thought about what she was gonna do her entire week in this town. What if Kujo comes back? She knew he would.
